All about your OOAK (one-of-a-kind) original collage purchase:

  • Each piece of original art from StudioMLC is matted using conservation matboard & backed with 1/8" or 3/16” acid-free foamboard. Archival tapes are used for matting & mounting these pieces. Most collages (unless otherwise noted) are on 140 lb. watercolor paper.

  • Due to the nature of some of the papers used in collage, StudioMLC recommends purchasing UV glass when framing in order to protect materials from fading.

  • StudioMLC has made every attempt to accurately display color, however because each computer monitor is different, color may not be exact. 1st images are scanned so they represent colors more accurately than the photographed versions (2nd images in description page). If you are unsure about a particular piece of work, please contact me & I’ll be happy to discuss the palette used in the collage.

  • Imperfection is an inherent quality of original artwork and should be expected. For instance, some of the edge details may be missing & imperfect or irregular. Also, collage is a deeply layered art-form so there is often dimensionality that cannot be accurately displayed online. For instance, some overlaid imagery is added using a transfer technique which appears shiny against other matte elements & often there are small pieces raised from the surface while others are flush. Just as with color variations, please contact me if you should have questions about a particular piece of art.

  • Below is a list of mediums I tend to use in collage. If there is anything unusual or worth noting it will be listed in the "special ingredients" section of the product description.

    • Acrylic & watercolor paint

    • Charcoal & colored pencils

    • Permanent marker, ballpoint pen, calligraphic pen

    • Gesso

    • Washi or other colorful tape

    • Liquid acrylics & stains

    • Stamps & ink

    • Oil pastels

    • Chalk & chalk pastels

    • Tissue paper, magazine scraps, origami paper, hand-painted paper

    • Other ephemera such as postage stamps, sheet music, handwritten notes, stickers, etc.

  • In the description for each piece, I list the interior and exterior dimensions. The interior dimension refers to the size of the actual art. The exterior dimension is the overall size = the art plus the surrounding mat.

  • Where possible, I have used mat sizes that will accommodate most standard frames (i.e. 8x10").

  • Collages are dated & signed (either full name or initials) in pencil on the front of the piece, as well as on the back.

  • All art is original. I currently do not sell prints of my collages.

  • All shipping is within U.S.A. but I hope to ship internationally at some point. (Best way to stay informed is to subscribe to my newsletter, Top Layer.)
